Will converting JPG to PNG improve quality? +
No. PNG stores the image without further loss, but it cannot restore detail that JPG compression already removed. It does stop quality from dropping further if you edit and save the file again.
Why is the PNG file bigger than the JPG? +
PNG is lossless, so photos saved as PNG are usually several times larger. This is expected.
Does the PNG get a transparent background? +
No. JPG has no transparency, so the PNG keeps the same solid background as the original photo.
Is it safe to convert private photos here? +
Yes. The conversion happens on your device and the images are never uploaded.
